07.09.202603:30:00UTC+00Thailand’s Core CPI Ticks Up to 1.44% in August, Signaling Slight Firming in Underlying Inflation

Thailand’s core consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.44% year-over-year in August 2026, edging up from 1.34% in July, according to data updated on 7 September 2026. The reading reflects a modest acceleration in underlying inflation pressures in the Thai economy.

The core CPI measure, which strips out more volatile items, compares price levels in August 2026 with the same month a year earlier. Similarly, July’s 1.34% figure was measured against July of the previous year. The slight uptick suggests that, while inflation remains contained, core price growth is gradually firming on an annual basis.

Investors and policymakers will be watching upcoming data releases to assess whether August’s move marks the start of a more durable trend in core inflation or remains a mild, short-term fluctuation in Thailand’s price dynamics.
