07.09.202608:48:02UTC+00Bulgaria Q2 GDP Revised Slightly Higher

The Bulgarian economy expanded by 2.8% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, slightly above the preliminary estimate of 2.7% but down from a revised 3% in the previous quarter. This was the slowest growth rate since Q1 2024, reflecting a deceleration in domestic demand. Overall consumption growth eased to 6.2% from 7.6% in Q1. Within that, household consumption slowed to 7.6% from 8.6%, while government spending declined by 2.7% after a 2.2% increase in the first quarter. Growth in gross fixed capital formation also moderated, slipping to 8.4% from 8.7%.

Net external demand contributed positively to GDP growth. Exports of goods and services returned to modest growth, rising 0.2% after a 7.1% contraction in Q1, while imports increased slightly to 8.5% from 8.2%. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, GDP grew by 0.7% in Q2, marginally above the preliminary estimate of 0.6% and matching the growth rate recorded in the previous quarter.
