10.09.202606:17:48UTC+00Sweden Industrial Output Recovers in July

Industrial production in Sweden increased by 0.2% year-on-year in July 2026, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.5% decline in June, which had been the first contraction since March 2025. The upturn was largely driven by the manufacturing sector, where output rose 0.6% after stagnating in the previous month.

Within manufacturing, production expanded notably in chemical and pharmaceutical products (13% vs 3.8%) and in basic metals and fabricated metal products (12.4% vs 1.2%). These gains more than offset sharp declines in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-16.9% vs -10.7%) and rubber and plastic products (-10.6% vs -3.7%).

Mining activity continued to contract (-9% vs -14.3%), but at a slower pace. Metal ore mining fell less steeply (-8.8% vs -17.6%), while output from other mines and quarries rebounded strongly (10.5% vs -1.8%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, total industrial output fell 3.6% in July, extending June’s downwardly revised 0.7% decrease.
