Slovakia’s construction output grew by 2.3% year-on-year in July 2026, up from a five-month low of 1.0% in June. Although this was still the second-weakest growth rate recorded so far this year, total construction production reached almost EUR 805 million and for the first time in 2026 exceeded the EUR 800 million threshold.

The expansion was largely driven by stronger domestic activity, which rose by 4.7% (vs 1.1% in June). Within this, output for new construction increased by 4.9% (vs 2.8%), while repair and maintenance work expanded by 5.0%, reversing a 1.6% decline in June. By construction type, building construction advanced 6.5% (vs 2.7%), and civil engineering output grew by 1.1%, rebounding from a 1.9% drop in the previous month.

In contrast, construction output abroad fell by 13.5% (vs -0.1% in June), the third-steepest decline this year, which significantly constrained overall sector growth. On a seasonally adjusted basis, total construction output increased by 1.9% month-on-month in July. Over the first seven months of 2026, construction activity was 8.2% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
