Gold traded below $4,150 an ounce on Tuesday, hovering near a two-month low as a stronger US dollar and surging Treasury yields outweighed support from softer US employment data and fading expectations of an October rate hike by the Federal Reserve. The dollar gained largely on euro weakness, amid escalating political uncertainty and mounting fiscal concerns across Europe. US Treasury yields rose to fresh 24-year highs as the global bond selloff persisted, fueled by growing fiscal risks and sustained inflation worries. Data from the ISM showed that cost pressures in the US services sector last month increased at the fastest pace in more than four years. At the same time, markets are assigning roughly a 78% probability that the Fed will leave interest rates unchanged this month after weaker-than-expected US jobs figures. Elsewhere, oil prices fell on signs of increased supply from the Middle East, helping to ease concerns over inflation and the prospect of higher interest rates.
