06.10.202607:08:05UTC+00Japanese Shares Rise on Wall Street Lead

The Nikkei 225 Index climbed 1.05% on Tuesday to close at 70,684, marking a three-month high as Japanese equities tracked Wall Street’s strong gains and investors largely shrugged off concerns about elevated bond yields. Sentiment was further supported by a pullback in oil prices, as signs of increased supply from the Middle East eased pressure on Japan’s import‑dependent economy.

On the policy front, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi continued to push expansionary fiscal measures despite mounting worries over the weak yen and rising domestic bond yields.

In corporate news, Toyota Motor Corp. is banking on its new Land Cruiser FJ to bolster its competitive edge amid intensifying rivalry with Chinese automakers, with sales in Japan and Southeast Asia already surpassing initial projections.

Technology and AI‑related stocks were among the session’s standout performers, led by Advantest (up 3.9%), Taiyo Yuden (6.2%), Fujikura (5.2%), Murata Manufacturing (1%) and Lasertec (0.8%).
