13.10.202604:53:41UTC+00Netherlands September Inflation Confirmed at 3.4%

The Netherlands’ annual inflation rate was confirmed at a four-month high of 3.4% in September 2026, edging up from 3.3% in August. The acceleration was driven chiefly by the transport component (9.3% year-on-year vs. 8.3% in August), reflecting a sharp rise in motor fuel prices (27.2%), with diesel showing the strongest increase. During the month, diesel averaged €2.50 per liter.

Inflation also picked up in several other categories: housing and utilities (4.2% vs. 4.1%), health (1.3% vs. 0.8%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.3% vs. 1.9%), and recreation and culture (3.0% vs. 2.2%). By contrast, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell further (-1.8% vs. -1.0%), and inflation in clothing and footwear moderated (0.6% vs. 1.1%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.1% in September, the smallest rise in three months, following a 0.3% gain in August. Meanwhile, annual HICP inflation—which excludes owner-occupied housing costs—rose to 3.0%, up from 2.8% in August.
