Slovenian Consumer Sentiment Falls To 3-Year Low

Slovenia's consumer confidence deteriorated to the lowest level in three years in in April, after holding steady in the previous two months, data released by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia showed Monday.

The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index decreased to -39 in April from -26 in March, which was unchanged from the previous two months. The latest reading was the lowest since April 2009, the agency said.

Th sub-index that measures Slovenian households' views of their personal finances in the past twelve months declined to -45 in April from -38 in the previous month.

In April, consumers were more pessimistic about their financial situation in the next twelve months, with the corresponding index falling to -34 from -22 in the previous month.

Households were also more downbeat about the country's economic condition in the past twelve months. The relevant indicator fell to -73 in April from -68 in March, while the gauge of consumers' expectations of the economic situation in the next twelve months dropped to -38 from -31.

Separately, the agency said Slovenia's business sentiment indicator dropped to -16 in April from -12 in March. Year-on-year, the indicator dropped by 12 percentage points.
