Aussie Extends Uptrend Versus Most Majors After RBNZ's Interest Rate Decision

The Australian dollar extended its previous session's uptrend against most of its major counterparts in early Asian deals on Thursday after the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's interest rate announcement. The RBNZ held its benchmark interest rate unchanged, as expected at 2.50 percent since March 2011.

At 5:15 pm ET, the kiwi climbed to new multi-day highs of 1.0378 against the US dollar, 84.39 versus the yen and 1.2747 against the euro, which may be compared to yesterday's close of 1.0356, 84.24 and 1.2770, respectively.
