On Saturday, October 15, protests took place in several European countries. People were opposing free-trade agreements between the states of the European Union, the United States, and Canada. Thousands of people took to the streets. Demonstrations were organized in Spain (Madrid), France (Paris, Toulouse, Lyon), and Poland (Warsaw and Krakow). Citizens of these countries are sure that signing the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with Canada will lead to negative economic consequences. They say that such an agreement will favor only large enterprises, not ordinary people. The CETA deal might be signed on October 28 at an EU-Canada summit. However, the agreement is under threat as the Parliament of Wallonia (Belgium) voted against its signing. The deal should be approved by all EU member states to be ratified.
