Belgium's consumer price inflation decelerated in February, data released by the statistical office showed Wednesday.

The consumer price index increased 1.19 percent on an annual basis in February, slower than the 1.46 percent gain seen in January. In December and November, the inflation rates were 2.23 percent and 2.26 percent respectively.

The annual increase of the index was influenced mainly by higher prices for cut flowers, fuel, travel abroad and food and alcoholic beverages, which were offset by decreases in prices of natural gas, electricity, clothing, fresh vegetables and GSM communications.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index move up 0.32 percent during the month, the agency said.
