2011.11.0801:47:00UTC+00Japanese Oct. Foreign Reserves Increase

Japan's foreign reserves increased by $9,289 million to $1.209 trillion at the end of October, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday. But it remained below a record high $1.219 trillion reserves logged in August.

October's figure does not reflect government intervention in the foreign exchange market as those transactions were settled in November.

Within official reserves, foreign currency reserves totaled $1.129 trillion, up from $1.122 trillion a month ago. IMF reserves came in at $17.56 billion compared to $17.29 billion.

At the same time, SDRs rose to $20.38 billion from $20.06 billion. Gold was valued at $42.37 billion, up sharply from $39.85 billion in the prior month.
