A citizen of Germany Michael H. won a case against the bank Comdirect, which by mistake transferred to his account 200 million euro, informs Hamburger Abendblatt. The representatives of the bank assured that their client was conducting operations with the money that in fact was not his own, that is why he was to pay the compensation. However, the court took Michael’s side. The bank plans to lodge an appeal. The event which is the subject of the current lawsuit happened in April 2011. Michael sold the shares for 20,000 euro and Comdirect bank, which was conducting the transaction, by mistake credited his account with 200 million euro. After noticing this sum on the account the man transferred 10 million euro to a different bank at once. In fact, Comdirect got back the whole sum of 200 mln euro. However, due to the holidays the bank was able to receive EUR 10 mln that were transferred to a different bank only after three days. For this delay Comdirect decided to claim for 14.4% from Michael for the account overdraft, or 12,000 euro. Michael put the law, having declared that the bank suffered no losses. He was ready to pay only 1,000 euro. Comdirect agreed to cut the amount to 6,000 euro. The reason for the bank mistake was the malfunctioning of the computer when the comma mark appeared in a different position.
