Indonesia's exports and imports declined in March, leading to a fall in the trade surplus, figures from Statistics Indonesia showed on Wednesday.

Exports fell 0.2 percent year-on-year in March. Economists had expected a decline of 6.73 percent.

Imports declined 0.75 percent annually in March. Economists had forecast a decrease of 7.88 percent.

On a monthly basis, exports rose 0.23 percent and imports increased 15.6 percent in March.

The trade surplus decreased to $0.74 billion in March from $2.51 billion in February. Economists had expected a surplus of $0.76 billion. In the same month last year, trade surplus was $0.67 billion.
