2017.10.2408:14:00UTC+00Crude Oil Grinds Out Further Gains

Crude oil futures continued to rise Tuesday morning amid the threat of supply interruptions from Iraq, where the conflict involving Kurds is escalating.

Iraq has added some key oil facilities in the south, but fighting in the north of the country has limited production.

WTI light sweet oil was up 20 cents at $52.30 an ounce, edging near multi-month highs.

US crude oil inventories data will be in focus over the next two sessions. The American Petroleum Institute is out with its weekly report this afternoon, followed by the Energy Information Administration's tomorrow morning.

Oil stockpiles plunged 5.7 million barrels last week, due in part to greated refinery demand as gasoline producers hustle to make up for hurricane-related interruptions.
