Estonia's trade deficit increased to EEK 1.9 billion in June, data from Statistics Estonia showed Monday. Compared to June of the previous year, the trade deficit was nearly eight times bigger, the statistical office said.

In June, the exports of goods from Estonia increased EEK 0.7 billion from the prior year to EEK 10.2 billion and imports rise EEK 2.3 billion to EEK 12.1 billion. In June compared to May, exports declined by 10% and imports by 4%.

Imports from the EU nations to Estonia totaled EEK 9.5 billion, with the share of 78% of Estonia's total imports. Imports from the EU countries grew by 22% compared to June of the previous year. Imports from the so-called third countries climbed by 28%.
