2015.09.1503:53:06UTC+00US dollar plunges as BOJ rules out additional stimulus

The US dollar plummeted Tuesday following the Bank of Japan decided to retain the pace of its asset buying program.

Based on its minutes, the BOJ maintained the policy of purchasing assets at ¥80 trillion annually.

The greenback stood at $1.1316 per euro from Monday's $1.1315. Versus the Japanese yen, the currency closed at ¥119.90 from ¥120.08.

I felt speculations for BOJ easing were escalating, as denoted by an increase “in the benchmark Nikkei Stock Average,” said Takuya Kanda, Senior Researcher at Gaitame.Com Research Institute.

Traders now await BOJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda's press conference to explain the central bank's policy decision later in the day.
