Thursday, a report by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic said retail sales rose 2.2% annually at constant prices in November, compared with a 4.6% rise in October. Retail sales were valued SKK 43.4 billion in the month.

Wholesale sales rose 3.4% year-on-year in November, at a much slower pace than the 12.9% rise in the previous month. Sales from wholesales trade amounted to SKK 75.6 billion.

The turnover of hotels and restaurants decreased for the fourth month in November. Sales declined 7.3% in the month compared with a 7.6% fall in October. Turnover totaled SKK 3.3 billion.

Sale and maintenance of motor vehicles fell 8% in the month compared with a 3.2% fall in October. The sale and maintenance of motor vehicles amounted to SKK 17.8 billion.

In the first eleven months of the year, retail sales rose 7.2% year-on-year. Wholesale sales were up 14.4%, while sale and maintenance of motor vehicles increased 1.6%. However, turnover in hotels and restaurants declined 1% in November.
