Combating disease is usually cost-intensive, while combating the coronavirus has turned out to be financially ruinous for many countries. Every state is trying to overcome the pandemic using its budget. That is why some countries allocate trillions of dollars to fight the deadly virus, and others get by with usual antivirals and "the kind word of the president".

Such a difference in approaches could have been explained by different types of viruses. However, when one and the same disease sweeps through the entire planet, authorities should take the similar measures. However, the authorities of some countries even believe that paying money to people during the quarantine is disastrous for the economy and population, supporting businesses is like doing them a disservice, while distributing medical masks and other personal protective equipment is inappropriate. Nevertheless, they require people to wear face masks and fine them for their absence. Against this background, the recommendations made by the World Health Organization for the minimum funding to prevent the spread of COVD-19 look fantastic.

"Before spending another $10 trillion on the consequences of the next wave, we estimate that the world will need to spend at least $100 billion on new tools, especially any new vaccines that are developed," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
