2025.10.0108:04:34UTC+00CAC 40 Dips Ahead of Eurozone Data and US Shutdown

On Wednesday, the CAC 40 index in Paris experienced a slight drop of 0.1%, settling at 7,880, as it relinquished some gains from the previous session. Investors exhibited caution in anticipation of significant economic data from the Eurozone and potential impacts from the US government shutdown. Unibail-Rodamco, a key player in the commercial real estate sector, suffered the largest setback, decreasing by 1.6%. The aerospace sector also faced declines, with Thales falling by 1.4% and Safran dipping by 0.8%. Conversely, the healthcare sector made gains, driven by an agreement where Pfizer and former US President Donald Trump agreed on reducing prescription drug prices; as a result, Sanofi surged by 3.8%, and Eurofins Scientific advanced by 1.2%. Attention is now focused on the upcoming Eurozone preliminary inflation figures for September, which are expected to show an increase to 2.2%. Meanwhile, in the United States, the federal government has halted operations for the first time in nearly seven years. This shutdown, along with ongoing disruptions in employment and economic data, may further complicate the forecast for interest rates.
