2025.11.1408:40:09UTC+00CAC 40 Retreats as Optimism Fades

On the last trading day of the week, the CAC 40 index experienced a decline of 0.5%, settling at 8,190 points. This represented a retreat from Thursday's peak of 8,314, driven by fading optimism about the resolution of the longest U.S. government shutdown on record and growing concerns regarding the high valuations of major technology companies. Additionally, investor sentiment was dampened by diminished expectations for monetary easing by the Federal Reserve. The downturn was widespread, with notable declines seen in companies such as Airbus (-2.2%), Société Générale (-2.2%), Capgemini (-2%), Thales (-1.7%), Stellantis (-1.6%), Dassault Systèmes (-1.4%), ArcelorMittal (-1.3%), and STMicroelectronics (-1.3%). In contrast to this general trend, Vallourec managed to rise by 0.4% after announcing strong results for the third quarter. Meanwhile, Ubisoft disclosed a delay in releasing its first-half earnings for the fiscal year 2025–26, prompting a request to Euronext to suspend trading of its shares and bonds until the results are officially released in the coming days.
