2025.12.1023:25:07UTC+00Senegal Inflation Rate Hits 20-Month High

In November 2025, Senegal experienced an increase in its annual inflation rate, climbing to 2.9% from the three-month low of 1.9% recorded in October. This marked the highest rate since March 2024, predominantly due to a significant rise in food prices, which surged by 5.0% compared to 3.2% in the previous month—the most rapid growth seen since March 2024.

Additionally, the inflation rate increased in sectors such as restaurants (3.0% from 2.7%), furnishings (3.3% from 3.2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which rose sharply to 15.9% from 11.4%. However, inflation rates decreased for housing and utilities (1.0% from 1.3%) and healthcare (2.3% from 2.4%), while remaining unchanged in the clothing and footwear (steady at 0.6%) and transport sectors (steady at 2.9%). In contrast, prices in the information and communication sector continued their downward trend, falling by 3.6% from the previous decline of 1.6%.

On a monthly scale, consumer prices slightly decreased by 0.1% in November, following a 0.2% decrease in October.
