2025.12.1506:33:55UTC+00Finnish Consumer Prices Fall for 2nd Month

In November 2025, Finland experienced a 0.1% year-on-year decrease in consumer prices, a slight recovery from the 0.2% decline noted in October. This represents the second consecutive month of reduced consumer prices, albeit at a more moderate rate. The softer decline was attributed to less pronounced decreases in sectors such as housing and utilities, which saw a decline of 2.4% compared to 3.0% in October, transportation declining by 0.3% against a previous 0.9%, and miscellaneous goods and services, which fell by 2.4% compared to 2.6% in the prior month. Meanwhile, furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance moved into deflation with a 0.1% drop, reversing from a 0.7% inflation, and inflation slowed for categories such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (now 2.3% from 2.7%), communication (3.6% from 4.4%), and recreation and culture (1.1% from 2.3%). Conversely, prices climbed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.7% compared to 1.6%), health (5.6% versus 5.5%), and restaurants and hotels (2.0% up from 1.5%), while education costs remained unchanged at 2.8%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.2% in November, maintaining the same rate as observed in the preceding month.
