Lithuania’s annual inflation rate slowed to 3.1% in January 2026 from 3.4% in December, reaching its lowest level since December 2024. The moderation was driven by weaker price growth in several categories, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.2% vs 8.0% in December 2025), health (2.8% vs 3.9%), restaurants and hotels (5.8% vs 6.1%), recreation and culture (5.4% vs 5.7%), miscellaneous goods and services (3.9% vs 4.8%), communication (2.7% vs 3.5%), and education (3.1% vs 3.8%).

At the same time, prices fell for transport (-1.4% vs +0.7%) and for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.4% vs +1.0%). By contrast, some categories saw faster price increases, notably food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.4% vs 4.1%), housing and utilities (2.6% vs 0.5%), and clothing and footwear (0.9% vs 0.7%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.5% in January, the strongest increase in a year and a rebound from the 0.1% decline recorded in the previous month.
