The S&P Global Canada Composite PMI fell to 47.9 in June 2026, signaling the first contraction in private-sector business activity in six months, after registering 50.8 in May. The downturn was primarily driven by weaker services activity, which more than offset solid growth in manufacturing output. New orders also declined over the month, indicating softer demand. Despite the fall in overall activity, private-sector employment continued to rise, though business confidence about the future weakened. On the price front, inflationary pressures eased.
