2026.07.1006:00:00UTC+00German HICP Holds Steady at 2.4% YoY in June, Signalling Inflation Plateau

Germany’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) remained unchanged at 2.4% year-over-year in June 2026, matching the previous annual reading of 2.4%. The data, updated on 10 July 2026, indicate that inflationary pressures in Europe’s largest economy may be stabilising after prior months of adjustment.

On a year-over-year basis, June’s HICP print compares the price level in June 2026 with that of June 2025, and the latest figure confirms that inflation is neither accelerating nor decelerating relative to the previous annual comparison. Both the “previous” indicator and the “current” indicator, each referencing June 2026 on a year-over-year basis, stand at 2.4%.

For markets and policymakers, the steady HICP rate suggests a period of relative price stability. While the data alone do not clarify underlying sector dynamics, the lack of movement in the headline rate may reinforce expectations that German inflation is hovering close to a medium-term equilibrium, pending further monthly readings and broader euro area developments.
