2026.07.2204:24:19UTC+00Sensex Extends Losing Streak to Third Day

India’s BSE Sensex slipped about 0.8% to 76,876 on Wednesday, extending its losing streak to a third consecutive session as a sharp rise in crude oil prices and caution ahead of key corporate earnings dampened investor sentiment. The pullback followed a climb in Brent crude to roughly $92 a barrel—its highest level in five weeks—amid rising tensions in the Middle East that have intensified worries over possible supply disruptions.

In company-specific moves, Bandhan Bank dropped around 14% despite reporting better profitability and asset quality, while MedPlus Health slumped 16.3% after posting a decline in quarterly earnings.

Foreign portfolio investors were net buyers, purchasing about 16.5 billion rupees of Indian equities in the previous session, positioning July to become the first month of net inflows in five months. In contrast, domestic institutional investors were net sellers.

Other notable laggards included Gabriel India (-5.7%), SBI Funds (-2.9%), and Cupid (-1.6%).
