2026.07.2705:22:35UTC+00Singapore Manufacturing Output Hits 4-Month Low

Singapore’s manufacturing output rose 7.2% year-on-year in June 2026, a sharp slowdown from the upwardly revised 17.8% increase recorded in May. This was the weakest annual expansion since February.

The moderation was led by electronics, where output growth eased to 21.3% from 49.2% in May. Within the cluster, semiconductors grew 21.1% (down from 53.3%), while infocomms and consumer electronics expanded 32.1% (down from 59.2%).

Overall manufacturing performance was further dampened by slower growth in precision engineering, which decelerated to 14.9% from 30.5%, and by a steep contraction in general manufacturing industries, which swung to a 6.8% decline after a 1.4% rise in the previous month. Output in the chemicals cluster also continued to fall, dropping 11.7% following an 11.4% decline in May.

By contrast, transport engineering returned to growth, with output rising 4.6% year-on-year after a 4.9% contraction in May.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, total manufacturing output fell 7.2% in June, reversing the upwardly revised 6.9% increase seen in May.
