2026.07.2923:50:00UTC+00Japan’s Foreign Bond Selling Deepens as Net Holdings Drop to ¥811.4B Outflow

Japan’s appetite for foreign bonds weakened further, with the latest data showing an expanded net outflow. According to figures updated on 29 July 2026, Japan’s foreign bond buying indicator fell to -¥811.4 billion, from a previous level of -¥723.7 billion.

The move from -¥723.7 billion to -¥811.4 billion underscores a stronger net selling trend of overseas debt securities by Japanese investors. A deeper negative reading indicates that, over the measured period, residents offloaded more foreign bonds than they purchased, signaling a continued retreat from international fixed-income markets.
