2026.08.0509:00:00UTC+00Euro Zone Factory-Gate Prices Turn Negative in June, Underscoring Disinflation Trend

Euro zone producer prices slipped back into negative territory in June 2026, signaling renewed disinflationary pressure at the factory gate. Month-over-month, the Producer Price Index (PPI) fell by 0.3%, a reversal from May’s 0.2% increase, according to data updated on 5 August 2026.

The June reading, measured on a month-over-month basis, compares the change in prices from June to May, while the previous 0.2% figure reflected the change from May to April. The shift from modest growth to decline suggests that pipeline price pressures in the euro area manufacturing sector are easing again, a development that could feed into weaker consumer inflation in the coming months.

For policymakers and markets, the negative PPI print may be interpreted as a sign that underlying cost pressures for producers are softening. However, the impact on broader inflation dynamics will depend on how quickly and to what extent these lower input and output prices are passed through along the supply chain to end consumers.
