2026.08.0606:11:36UTC+00Swedish Inflation Slows in July

Consumer prices in Sweden increased by 0.2% year-on-year in July 2026, slightly above market expectations of a 0.1% rise but down from the 0.7% gain recorded in June, according to preliminary estimates. This was the smallest annual increase since May of the previous year. “Energy prices fell sharply in July, which contributed to the lower inflation rate according to both the CPI and CPIF,” said Mikael Nordin, price statistician at Statistics Sweden.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined by 0.3%, the first drop in three months, reversing the 0.4% increase seen in the prior period. Meanwhile, the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF), the Riksbank’s preferred inflation gauge, rose 0.7% year-on-year in July, easing from 1.3% in June but coming in slightly above the 0.6% increase expected by markets. Even so, it was the lowest CPIF reading since December 2020.
