Industrial production in Moldova surged 10.6% year-on-year in June 2026, quickening from a revised 8.3% increase in May and marking the strongest expansion since March. The upturn was largely driven by manufacturing, where output rose 10.2% (vs 7.7% in May), supported by robust gains in several key segments: food products (18.4% vs 15.5%), textiles (40.1% vs 24.9%), leather and related products (41.7% vs 30.8%), wood and wood products (24.6% vs 11.0%), basic metals (30.6% vs -41.9%), computer, electronic and optical products (36.2% vs -16.3%), electrical equipment (7.9% vs 6.7%), machinery and equipment (45.3% vs 26.1%), and furniture (59.5% vs -4.3%).

Output in the electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply sector also accelerated, rising 19.4% (vs 11.0% in May). By contrast, mining production lost momentum, slowing to 10.3% growth from 22.4% in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall industrial output declined 0.9% in June, reversing a 1.9% increase in May. Over the first half of the year, industrial production expanded by 7.9%.
