2026.09.0808:00:00UTC+00Taiwan’s CPI Inflation Eases in August as Month‑on‑Month Gains Slow

Taiwan’s consumer price inflation cooled slightly in August 2026, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 0.13% month-on-month, down from a 0.18% increase in July 2026. The latest figures, updated on 8 September 2026, indicate a modest easing in short-term price pressures across the economy.

On a month-over-month basis, the “Actual” 0.13% figure for August reflects a slower pace of price growth compared with the previous month’s “Previous” reading of 0.18%, which itself measured the change from June to July. This deceleration suggests that while prices are still edging higher, the rate of increase has moderated slightly as the summer progressed.

Investors and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases to see whether August’s softer reading signals the beginning of a more sustained cooling in inflation or a temporary pause in upward price momentum in Taiwan’s economy.
