At the same time, the decision of the president raises many questions, the main one of which is what a person who constantly openly criticizes the bank and other equally large lenders will do as the president of the World Bank. David Malpass, a 62-year-old Republican, was Trump's senior economic adviser during the election campaign of Donald Trump in 2016. Malpass is a longtime critic of the World Bank, and most likely the US president's choice is set to show that he agrees with David.

Earlier, this position was taken by Jim Yong Kim, who abruptly announced that he would resign from the post after seven years of work.
