Europe will hardly go ahead with its plan to save the economy from the pandemic crisis. The fact is that such countries as Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden do not agree with the financial support measures.

According to the document, the European Commission is to borrow a large amount of money on the market to revive economies most badly damaged by the pandemic. At first sight, the plan looks logical. However, the details showed that sums of loans are unevenly distributed. Besides, there is no information about what organization will issue the debt. Moreover, the so-called “frugal four” alliance supposes that spending of the received money should be rational and controlled by some organizations. In other words, they are asking for a transparent scheme of support.  Notably, the debt could be issued by any European country or by the Commission. In this case, the issuer may significantly extend its economic and political influence. However, the four countries are actively voicing their criticism at parts of the recovery fund. They also fear that the existing numerous taxes will not be enough to pay off the debt. That is why there is a threat of new taxes.
