China has increased tariffs on U.S. imports to 125% from the previous rate of 84%, intensifying the ongoing trade war. According to the Customs Tariff Commission, U.S. products have become "no longer marketable" in China and the country plans to ignore any future tariff increases from the U.S. This decision follows a clarification from the White House that tariffs set by President Trump during his second term actually reach 145%, not the earlier reported 125%. In retaliation, Beijing has implemented a series of countermeasures, including raised levies on American goods and new restrictions on the import of U.S. films.
