Frankfurt's DAX index experienced notable growth on Thursday, advancing more than 1.5% and outpacing its regional counterparts. Investors' attention was drawn to robust corporate earnings, allowing them to largely overlook the impact of tariffs. These "reciprocal" tariff measures, now in place, affect nearly all significant trading partners, including the EU, which is subject to a 15% rate. Germany's export-driven economy is increasingly strained by U.S. tariffs. In terms of data, while German exports strengthened in June, there was a more significant-than-expected decline in industrial production. On the business front, BASF spearheaded the growth with a surge exceeding 5%, while Allianz saw nearly a 5% rise following its positive second-quarter results and reaffirmation of its full-year forecast. Other strong performers included Heidelberg Materials, Siemens, and Deutsche Post, with increases of 4.7%, 4.1%, and 3.75%, respectively. Conversely, Rheinmetall fell by over 5% after announcing second-quarter sales that did not meet expectations. Deutsche Telekom also declined, down about 4%, challenged by disappointing results.
