In August 2025, the number of individuals voluntarily leaving their jobs in the United States decreased by 75,000, reaching 3.091 million, compared to a downwardly revised figure of 3.166 million the previous month, and 3.177 million in the same period last year. This marked the lowest level since November 2024. The quits rate, which indicates the percentage of voluntary job leavers within the total workforce, slightly decreased to 1.9% from July’s 2%. Job resignations fell notably in the accommodation and food services sector (-140,000) and the arts, entertainment, and recreation industry (-22,000). However, there was an increase in the construction sector (+56,000). Regionally, the most significant reduction in job quits occurred in the Northeast (-54,000), while smaller decreases were observed in the Midwest (-17,000) and the South (-7,000). Conversely, the West experienced a slight rise in job quits (+3,000).
