2025.10.0119:18:43UTC+00Uruguay Trade Surplus Expands in August

In August 2025, Uruguay recorded a trade surplus of $476.44 million, marking a significant increase from the $42.44 million surplus noted in the same month the previous year. Exports experienced a robust growth of 38.1% year-on-year, reaching $1.349 billion. This surge was primarily driven by a 69.8% rise in primary goods and a 22.3% increase in manufactured products. Conversely, exports related to utilities saw a notable decline of 39.5%. On the imports front, there was a decrease of 15.1%, totaling $0.873 billion. This decline was attributed to a 1.4% reduction in consumer goods, a 2.4% drop in capital goods, and a substantial 26.3% fall in intermediate goods.
