2025.10.2708:40:38UTC+00DAX Starts Week on Positive Note

On Monday, Germany's DAX gained ground to approximately 24,290, reflecting a generally positive market sentiment bolstered by promising trade developments. Over the weekend, U.S. and Chinese negotiators achieved a preliminary trade agreement ahead of the forthcoming meeting between President Trump and President Xi in South Korea next Thursday. As per Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Beijing intends to postpone export restrictions on rare minerals, resume purchases of U.S. soybeans, and assist in addressing the fentanyl crisis. In exchange, Washington will retract the proposed 100% additional tariffs on Chinese imports. Additionally, the focus this week will be on key decisions by major central banks, including the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank (ECB). Meanwhile, the quarterly earnings season proceeds on both sides of the Atlantic. In the DAX, technology stocks led the gains, with Siemens Energy rising 2%, Infineon Technologies up by 1.6%, Siemens advancing 0.6%, and SAP increasing 0.5%. Conversely, Beiersdorf, MTU Aero Engines, and Brenntag were the notable decliners, each falling over 1%.
