In October 2025, retail sales in Ireland experienced a 0.5% decrease compared to the previous month, which had seen a revised increase of 0.3% in September. This decline was primarily driven by reductions in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco, which fell by 2.6% after a 4.4% rise in September, as well as a decrease in fuel sales, down 1.1% following a 1.6% increase. Conversely, the clothing, footwear, and textiles sector showed improvement, with sales growing by 3.6% compared to a decline of 1.9% in the prior month. Year-on-year, retail sales increased by 2.1% in October, slowing from a 3.7% increase in September, marking the seventh straight month of upward growth.
