In October 2025, the number of visitors arriving in New Zealand increased by 9.4% from the previous year, reaching a total of 262,700. This growth was primarily spurred by a significant uptick in travelers from Australia, which saw a rise of 13,500 visitors, totaling 121,100. Additionally, increases were noted in arrivals from various other countries: China (+1,500), Korea (+1,300), Taiwan (+1,200), Hong Kong (+900), the United States (+800), and Japan (+700). When compared to October 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the October 2025 figures represent 93% of the arrivals recorded then, which were 283,800. Australians contributed 47% of the total visitors (up from 43% in October 2019), while arrivals from the United States made up 9%, China 7%, the United Kingdom 5%, and India 3%. This data underscores a robust resurgence in travel from Australia, aligning with its school holiday season, alongside recoveries from diverse markets, notably the United States.
