2026.01.0609:01:42UTC+00French Private Sector Activity Levels Off

The HCOB France Composite PMI for December 2025 saw a minor downward revision to 50.0, slightly below the preliminary estimate of 50.1 and down from November's figure of 50.4, indicating stagnant output overall. This latest data reveals some improvement for manufacturers, with the PMI climbing to 50.7 from 47.8 in November, following a significant production decline over the past nine months. Conversely, the services sector faced worsening conditions, as its PMI slipped to 50.1 from 51.4, failing to maintain November's robust growth momentum. New orders and employment levels within the private sector remained largely unchanged. Export performance was somewhat negative, with diminished overseas service demand canceling out record-breaking international orders for manufacturers. Price increases were modest, driven primarily by manufactured goods, while overall cost inflation showed signs of easing. Finally, business confidence within the private sector experienced a slight decline.
