2026.01.2715:52:04UTC+00Wheat Prices Ease as Weather Fears Fade

Wheat futures recently settled around $5.20 per bushel, showing a decline from the almost six-week high of $5.30 achieved earlier this week. Initial concerns about supply disruptions due to adverse weather conditions are now diminishing. The threat posed by a potential US winter storm to crops and grain transport has lessened. Similarly, fears of severe cold weather impacting crops in Russia have subsided, as sufficient snow coverage provided necessary protection. Nonetheless, the downward pressure was mitigated by the weakening of the US dollar, which hit its lowest point in nearly four years, thereby helping to sustain commodity prices. Meanwhile, geopolitical discussions in the Black Sea region remain a focal point, raising the possibility of export disruptions and contributing to ongoing supply uncertainties. Despite these risks, large global stockpiles and stable production forecasts are preventing significant rises in wheat prices.
