2026.02.1911:00:00UTC+00Irish Inflation Inches Down to 2.7% in January, Easing from December Pace

Ireland’s consumer price inflation slowed slightly at the start of 2026, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 2.7% year-over-year in January, down from 2.8% in December 2025. The latest data, updated on 19 February 2026, indicate a modest further easing in price pressures compared with the same month a year earlier.

On a year-over-year basis, the “actual” January reading compares the price level in January 2026 with January 2025, while the “previous” December figure reflected the change between December 2025 and December 2024. The marginal decline suggests inflation in Ireland is stabilising at a lower level, which may be viewed positively by households and policymakers watching the cost of living and real income dynamics.
