2026.02.1911:00:00UTC+00Irish HICP Edges Down to 2.5% in January, Signalling Slight Easing in Inflation

Ireland’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) eased slightly in January, with the year-over-year rate slipping to 2.5% from 2.6% previously. Both the current and prior readings refer to January 2026, highlighting a modest deceleration in price growth at the start of the year.

The data, updated on 19 February 2026, compare inflation in January 2026 with the same month a year earlier. The previous “2.6%” figure represented the change versus January of the prior year, while the latest “2.5%” reading shows that price pressures, while still present, have continued to cool marginally on an annual basis.

This slight downshift in the HICP suggests that inflation in Ireland is moving gradually lower, an encouraging signal for households and policymakers monitoring the trajectory of consumer prices across the euro area.
