Paraguay’s trade balance shifted to a surplus of $2.68 billion in April 2026, after posting a deficit of $76.6 million in the same month a year earlier. Export values rose 14.6% year-on-year to $1.59 billion, led by a 35.8% surge in shipments of primary goods. Exports of manufactured agricultural products increased 2.7%, while exports of industrial manufactures climbed 18.7%. By contrast, electricity exports contracted 39.7%.

On the import side, total purchases from abroad grew 12.2% to $1.60 billion. Imports of consumer goods were up 3.8%, whereas inflows of capital goods and intermediate goods declined by 12.0% and 4.1%, respectively.
