2026.06.1202:00:00UTC+00Australian Consumer Sentiment Slips in June as PCSI Index Edges Lower

Australian consumer confidence weakened in June, with the Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) easing to 46.95, down from 48.35 in May 2026. The latest reading, updated on 12 June 2026, points to a month‑over‑month softening in household sentiment.

The June figure marks a further decline from the previous month’s level, signaling that consumers are feeling slightly less optimistic about economic conditions than they were in May. On a month‑over‑month basis, the current “Actual” reading reflects a deterioration compared with May, while the “Previous” comparison captures the change that occurred in May relative to April.

With the index remaining below the 50-point threshold, the data suggest persistent caution among Australian consumers as they assess their personal finances, job prospects and the broader economic outlook heading into the second half of 2026.
