2026.06.2607:22:20UTC+00Sweden Consumer Morale Improves Slightly

Sweden’s household confidence indicator rose to 93.6 in June 2026, up from an upwardly revised 92.8 in May. The improvement was driven by a more positive view of the overall economy, both compared with a year ago and looking ahead to the next 12 months. In contrast, assessments of households’ own financial situation and their willingness to make major purchases were unchanged, with consumers remaining more downbeat about their personal finances than about the wider economy. Expectations for unemployment over the coming year continued to worsen (31 vs 27 in May), although anxiety about losing one’s own job eased back to its long-run average (-6 vs -3). Saving intentions stayed relatively strong (47 vs 46), while plans to cut back on purchases of capital goods persisted (-18 vs -15). Inflation expectations for the next 12 months edged down to 7.0%, and households projected variable mortgage rates to average 3.7% over the next one to two years and 3.9% over the next five years.
