2026.07.1006:57:41UTC+00France June Inflation Confirmed at 1.8%

France’s annual inflation rate slowed to 1.8% in June 2026, down from 2.4% in May, confirming the preliminary estimates. The deceleration was mainly due to a marked easing in energy price inflation (11.0% vs 16.6% in May), especially for petroleum products. Inflation also moderated in services (1.9% vs 2.1%) and food (0.9% vs 1.1%), while prices for manufactured goods declined at a faster rate (-1.1% vs -0.6%). The steeper fall in manufactured goods prices was partly linked to calendar effects, as the June price collection period this year included three days of seasonal sales, compared with none in the same period a year earlier. By contrast, tobacco inflation inched up to 3.3% from 3.2%.

Core inflation slowed to 1.0% from 1.5%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3%—the first decline since January—largely reflecting a sharp drop in energy prices, particularly petroleum products. The EU-harmonised index of consumer prices rose 2.0% year-on-year, down from 2.8% in May, and declined 0.3% on the month.
